The goal of this project was to design a music player app that would serve as an alternative to Spotify or Apple Music. I chose to focus on the concept of tags to differentiate my app from other music players. Each song would be assigned certain tags by the artist for mood, genre, and a suggested activity the song would be appropriate for. When the user likes a song, it would be automatically added to the user's library in the appropriate category. The user can also search by tag to find new music easily.
I began this project by sketching out different screens and then translating the sketches into wireframes (below) using Figma. After figuring out the prototyping elements and the basic design, I began to flesh out the aesthetic of the app. I chose to keep a minimal color palette and use color sparingly as an organizational element. Each mood, genre, and activity has an assigned color that appears on their tag and playlist.
